The Streetsboro Junior Baseball and Softball (SJB) Board is excited to be preparing for the upcoming season!  With registration right around the corner, we felt it might be an opportunity to help our families prepare for a smooth registration process.  A timely registration process is very important to the season.  There are many activities that the board must undertake and many of them depend on the results of registration.

All of the registration details can be handled by that system including receiving credit/debit card payment and electronic draft from a checking account. We are excited to be launching this system and are working diligently to get it launched in time. Our biggest concern with online registration is ordering the correct sizes for uniforms. We HIGHLY encourage everyone registering to take advantage of the sizing opportunities to try on sample uniforms.

Preparing for Registration

At the time of registration, we collect pertinent information about both the participant and the family. This information helps us with many areas including communicating with the families and ordering uniforms.

You’ll need the following:

  • Uniform Sizes
    • The uniform components vary a bit by age.
    • We will have sample uniforms at the sizing dates for you to try on, and is the best way to determine sizing.
  • Family / Participant Information
    • Online registration will allow you to enter information directly.
  • Form of Payment
    • Online Registration
      • VISA / MasterCard / Discover credit or debit card
      • No Cash option for Online Registration

What to expect after registration

  1. The first thing we do after registration is to determine the number of teams in each age group (division).
  2. Once we determine the number of teams in each division, we look to vet & fill all manager and coaching positions.  This includes background checks for every manager and coach.
  3. It will take a few weeks to tally up the registrations and hand them off to each league commissioner. The League Commissioners will then meet with the Executive Board and form all teams. At times, we will allow teams to be drafted.
  4. The information for each participant is then handed off to the coaches. We ask that the coaches reach out to the parents to inform them of their team and share contact information.  This first contact will likely be in early to mid-April.
  5. While the league commissioners are working on forming teams, the executive board works on assigning practice time to the teams.
  6. Once field time is arranged, coaches are notified and asked to reach out to their teams again to schedule the first practice. Most practices will begin in mid April. Through all of this, we can only hope that Mother Nature doesn’t disrupt our plans too much!
  7. We will send email communications to all registered families once teams have been formed. If you have not heard from your coach by then, the email will include instructions on how to reach out to us.

While all of the above is in motion, we work on securing proper logos and artwork from our sponsors so that we can place our uniform orders with enough lead time to receive them in time to start the season.

For most age groups and leagues, the season should start by mid-May. The season generally runs through the first week of July.

Considering all of the work that we put into preparing for the season, you can understand that Late Registrations are difficult to manage. Because of this, we only accept late registrations on a case-by-case basis and may be subject to a late fee.

We can't wait to start the next season of baseball and softball!
