Concession Stand Volunteering and Buyouts

When you register this year, you will notice a new option called “Concession Stand Buyout”.   The operating budget of Streetsboro Junior Baseball & Softball (SJB) is greatly supplemented by concession stand sales. Over the past few years it has become increasingly difficult to get reliable concession stand volunteers.  In some cases, the volunteers failed to show altogether.  In other cases, it was simply more hassle than it seemed it should be.

We understand that families are busy.  We also recognize that paying for umpires and equipment is expensive and we can include more youth by keeping our costs low.  For this reason, we are offering this “Concession Stand Buyout” as an alternative to being obligated to work the concession stand.

Most teams are assigned 2-3 nights throughout the season.  In a perfect world, 2-3 parents from each team would work one night and other parents would work the other nights.  Often it turned out to be the coaches and SJB board members families working the concession stand.  We are already asking a lot from these volunteers and we desire to change this.  If $10 is worth relieving yourself of the obligation to work, we’ll happily use the funds to keep the concession stand open, even if it means paying people to work for us.

The choice is yours – you can volunteer to work the concession stand or you can Buyout your obligation for a small fee of $10.
